Information and Referral

Family Hope Connection staff recognizes that adoption is only the beginning of many new chapters of your life. As with all parenting, there will be highs and lows, joys and sorrows, good days and more difficult ones. We'd like you to know that you can turn to us, not only for help when faced with challenges unique to adoptive families, but also when things are going smoothly, so you can prepare and understand the unique issues associated with adoption.

How We Help

• The FHC resource library is open to all FHC families and contains a number of volumes covering topics from speaking to your child about adoption to attachment disorders.
• FHC is part of a larger social service agency, Jewish Family & Children's Service. Referrals to clinical counseling, special needs services and more are just a call away. In addition, FHC adoption caseworkers are familiar with a wide range of community resources that may be of benefit to you and your family.
• We are able to offer qualifying post-adoption services free of charge through the Statewide Adoption & Permanency Network (SWAN) to anyone in Pennsylvania who has finalized adoption. Services are either provided by FHC or through referral to other resources:
  • Case advocacy/case management services are provided to ensure you receive access to services required to meet the needs of your adoptive child.
  • Counseling and support group support through FHC and to other resources.
  • Referral for respite care, as requested.

Meet the People We Help

• Mona’s daughter and son-in-law, who live out of state, were dealing with infertility issues. Although the couple had not yet decided to consider adoption, Mona wanted to encourage them to do so and provide them with information on adoption resources. She called on Family Hope Connection for help.
