Child-Specific Recruitment
FHC staff often work on behalf of specific waiting children to expedite permanency by taking pro-active measures to find a permanent, loving family for a specific child.
How we Help
- We work with a team which can include: child welfare caseworker, foster parents, birth parents, child to identify and locate appropriate adoptive parents. This includes having professional photos, filming for Waiting Child Series, attending adoption conferences with matching information and speaking to prospective adoptive parents.
- We send information about the child to other agencies and provide current information and photo of child to caseworkers so that the child can be included on the Pennsylvania Adoption Exchange and other appropriate exchanges.
Meet the People We Help
-
David, a six-year-old boy with autism, was living with a foster family who cared for him but did not want to adopt him permanently. A colleague with the Statewide Adoption Network (SWAN) told JoAnn, a Family Hope Connection caseworker, about David’s situation and asked JoAnn to help find the boy a home.

After spending nearly a year in her most recent foster home, 13-year-old Jill has become increasingly difficult. She is breaking her curfew, sneaking out at night and ditching her household chores. Her foster parents have had enough and want to find Jill a new place to live.
